Under the guise of building a future for himself and his date, he managed to swindle the doctor and her mother out of considerable sums of money, which he then used for his own designs, with no consideration for the woman he claimed to love.

This type of story, absolutely horrifying as it is, is also sadly frequent in the world of online dating.
