How To Get Over a Breakup And Move On With Your Life: Part 1

Breaking up is never an easy thing to do.

When you break up with someone you love it’s always going to be a painful affair. Things are going to be very tough, at least initially and there is going to be a painful cocktail of emotions swirling around wildly in your brain.

So is there any easy way to get over an ex and move on with your life?

Sadly, there isn’t but there are definitely some proven steps to take that will help you make the moving on process much easier.

  1. Acceptance – As much as you don’t want to, you need to accept that the relationship is over. The first step in moving on from a breakup and in fact, any painful event that occurs in life, is acceptance of the situation rather than a constant denial.
  2. Let yourself be sad – One of the silliest things people do in this situation is try to bottle up or avoid any painful feelings, therefore many people resort to self-medicating, which is extremely foolish. You need to give yourself time to feel sad and naturally grieve rather than suppressing those painful feelings.
  3. Don’t contact your ex – The urge is going to be tough to resist with this one but you must resist it. We know you’ll want to call them, text them, contact them on Facebook but you have to resist the urge. Contacting them won’t make the situation easier, it will make it worse.
  4. Keep yourself occupied – Make sure you keep yourself busy whether it’s with work or a hobby you are passionate about. This way you won’t have as much time to let your ex creep into your thoughts.

This is part one of our series into moving on from a relationship so keep an eye out for the next post where we explore more tips that are guaranteed to help you move on from any breakup.
